About Oktöberfest

Each September The Springstone Community ushers in the change of the season with our Fall Fundraiser Oktöberfest! Springstone families, friends, and community members are invited to attend and participate in the festivities. Gathering together to deepen connections and celebrate the growth of our students with our community!

Oktöberfest is a combined Springstone community effort! Parent Club members donate time setting up and cleaning up for the event. Our students offer for sale unique art they made during their stay at Camp Arroyo. SCHS upperclassmen support the menu by participating in baking pretzels, cooking various foods, and preparing desserts. Students in lower grades contribute custom designed decorations.

The fundraiser proceeds are going towards funding Camp Arroyo activities. While Springstone receives a grant in tandem with the Reflect Kindess Foundation, this helps cover additional costs associated with camp. Camp Arroyo enables our students to get out of their comfort zone and try new activities like rock climbing, zip lines, and sleeping away from home in a serene and low stimulus environment. Springstone has been fortunate to be invited to attend and it is an amazing place to watch our students progress through their years at Springstone!

Featuring Award Winning Speciality Craft Homebrew Beer!

We’re excited to share that Dirk Manders, a former Springstone parent, and a two-time returning brewer for our Oktöberfest, will be bringing his award-winning craft beers to this year’s event! Dirk is an experienced homebrewer with an impressive track record in the craft beer community.

Along with multiple awards at the local World Cup of Beer homebrew competition, he has won Best of Show for his oatmeal stout, Midnight Goblin, at the latest Alameda County Fair homebrew competition, as well as Best of Show  with his English Style Strong Bitter, Hob’s Delight, at Side Gate Brewing’s 2025 British Beer Bonanza, which is currently on tap at Side Gate Brewing Co. in Concord.

We are incredibly grateful to Dirk for sharing his passion and talents with our community at this year’s Oktöberfest. Be sure to get your tickets today to enjoy some truly exceptional brews! Prost!
