Happy Bastille Day! 🇫🇷✨ (And our hearts go out to France and their national football team tonight ⚽♥️🥉)

Today, our Culinary Art students celebrated France’s national day by tackling one of the most iconic—and technically challenging—French pastries: the Napoleon (Mille-feuille)! 🍰👇

Behind those beautiful, delicate layers is a lot of hard work, precision, and collaboration. During this bake, our students mastered: 🥐 Pastry Lamination: Getting those perfect, flaky, buttery layers of puff pastry. 🥄 The Perfect Crème Pâtissière: Whisking up a velvety, rich pastry cream. NO ONE BURNT ANY! 🧑‍🍳👌📐 Precision & Assembly: Slicing and layering with steady hands so it stands tall. With a sprinkle of powdered sugar and fruit on top!

But the most important ingredient in the kitchen today? Teamwork. They worked in pairs - but also shared the space well! 🤝 From coordinating oven times to carefully assembling the layers without crushing them, our students learned how to communicate, delegate, and support each other under pressure.

Exploration, engineering, and expression were all part of first Summer Session at Springstone this first week!🧭🤖🎭

Students practiced orienteering with a map and compass, worked with peers to build fighter robots, and collaborated with classmates to create and perform skits.

Summer Session has been cooking up something special! 👩‍🍳☀️

In cooking and baking class, students practiced important kitchen and academic skills while making delicious recipes like Pride rainbow jello, mac & cheese, pancakes, frittatas, beignets, peach cobblers, and pigs in a blanket! 🌈🥞🥧

Along the way, they worked on estimation, rounding, totals, measuring ingredients, knife skills, reading recipes, following directions, and working together in the kitchen.

We love seeing our students build confidence, independence, and real-life skills one recipe at a time! 🍴✨
